BIO

I lead a team of designers and engineers in the design, fabrication and testing of new and innovative pressure suits and other protective equipment associate to spaceflight and Extravehicular Activity.
I am also the design and analysis lead for the Ascent Entry Suit for the Boeing CST-100 Starliner, as well as the suit for NASA’s Orion Spacecraft.  I have a bachelors in mechanical engineering from McGill University, and a PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland.

Advances in Spacesuit Design – Human-shaped Spacecraft for the 21st Century
This lecture will provide an overview of the rich history of spacesuit design and development at David Clark Company, from the spacesuits for the Gemini program to the latest suit designs for Orion and NASA’s Commercial Crew program.  The challenges spacesuit designers face, the methods they use, and the unique, innovative solutions will all be discussed.  The latest advances in suit technologies will be detailed, which provide today’s astronauts with unprecedented capabilities and levels of protection.
